The Lago della Rotonda is located in a foothill depression bounded by Serra La Rotonda (1285 m). The elongated lake is located at an altitude of 914 m above sea level. It is a temporary lake of natural origin in which the water level is subject to strong seasonal fluctuations for which it occupies an area of more than 12 hectares in the period November-April and retreats considerably in the dry season, when the water can disappear altogether. Among the birds that can be seen in the area are Aigle royal, Traquet isabelle, Grand Corbeau, Buse variable and Faucon crécerelle.

Italiano: Il “Lago della Rotonda" è situato in una depressione pedemontana delimitata a est-nord-est da Serra La Rotonda (1285 m), a sud da I Pianicelli e Costa Pannocchia (1100 m), a sud-est da Serra Destra di Tornesiello (1185 m) ed a ovest da Castello Starsia (1387 m) e dal Monte Pisco (1222 m). Il Sic ha un’altitudine media di 980 m con un minimo a 913 m ed un massimo a 1048 m. Il lago si sviluppa con un profilo allungato lungo la direttrice SW-NE, ed è sito ad un’altitudine di 914 m sul livello del mare. Si tratta di un lago temporaneo di origine naturale in cui il livello dell’acqua è soggetto a forti fluttuazioni stagionali per cui occupa una superficie superiore ai 12 Ha nel periodo novembre-aprile e si ritira notevolmente nella stagione secca, quando l’acqua può scomparire del tutto. Zona aperta. In alcuni periodi è presente un lago.
