On the south coast of the island of Zakynthos lies this wetland where you can walk a very nice 2 km loop.
Limni Keri Bitumen Wells and Lake is a beautiful small marsh area situated along the coast of Limni Kiri. You can easily park your car and look out over the sea for a moment. When you start with a loop around the wetland during spring, you will immediately hear and see all sorts of birds. You will hear Rousserolle turdoïde singing right away, and you will encounter them scattered throughout the entire loop. In the shallow areas, waders such as Bécasseau de Temminck, Bécasseau cocorli, Bécasseau minute and Chevalier guignette forage. You will also see Crabier chevelu scattered throughout the area, and if you look closely, Blongios nain. Wagtails also forage at the edges. I spotted a Bergeronnette printanière and my first Black-headed wagtail. But be sure to keep an eye on the surroundings as well, because I saw Loriot d'Europe and Grand Corbeau flying around. Tarier des prés was also present everywhere in the area.
