Located in nature reserve Untere Seeveniederung, the western shore of Lake Steller is a large open area with sandy grasslands and thorn bushes. The approximately ten-hectare area is grazed with cattle as part of the grazing project 'Seevengeti' and has an observation platform and an observation wall for Martin-pêcheur d'Europe. Further observation points are located with an observation platform on the northwestern shore of Lake Steller and an observation tower on the southwest shore of Lake Junkernfeld. Among the birds you can observe in the area are Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Loriot d'Europe, Linotte mélodieuse, Grand Cormoran, Héron cendré, Grande Aigrette and Ouette d'Égypte.
