In Schellbruch reserve close to the city of Lübeck you find different types of habitats with a great variety of birds in a rather small area (although the complete reserve is not small at all. The reserve is managed by the NABU (German organisation for protecting nature) and a local organic farmer.
Good all year through but best in late spring. Fantastic place for Gorgebleue à miroir, Locustelle luscinioïde, Panure à moustaches, Pygargue à queue blanche and Woodpeckers. In autumn also great flocks of geese in some years. Petit Gravelot and Vanneau huppé occur as well as Martin-pêcheur d'Europe. Winter is good for Pie-grièche grise, Harle piette, Harle bièvre and sometimes Butor étoilé.
