Description
The Norddorfer Marsch is bordered by dunes in the west and an overgrown and overblown dike– and in the east bordered by an asphalt dike, which was built after the great hurricane flood in 1962. This wetland is a paradise for water birds with ponds and water ditches – although it is barely a square kilometer. During autumnal migration there are several hundred Canard siffleur staying here. By mid-December at the latest, they will move across the North Sea to Holland. Bernache cravant populate the marsh in their thousands in the spring. Of course also other geese like Oie cendrée and Bernache nonnette can be seen here. Also birds like Tadorne de Belon, Huîtrier pie, Gravelot à collier interrompu, Courlis cendré, Barge rousse, Bécasseau maubèche, Bécasseau variable and Chevalier gambette can be seen.

From the asphalt dike all birds can be spotted well. You can make a circular walk of 5 km around the wetland. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking. From there you can explore the area on foot.
