Nice combination of lake, reedbeds and woodlands. There is a large population of Rousserolle turdoïde , and a colony of Guifette noire at Die Banke. In winter, when other sites in Berlin can be a bit boring, one can find interesting waterfowl here, including Grèbe jougris, Grèbe esclavon, Garrot à oeil d'or, Macreuse brune and various loons. In the winter 2020 the lake was visited by one of the rarest loons, the Plongeon à bec blanc (gavia adamsii). The woodlands south of the lake are home to breeding Gobemouche nain.
