The monastery complex in Weddern was founded in 1477 and existed until 1804. It was the only charterhouse in Westphalia. A tour is worthwhile.

Around Karthaus nature is still in order. The area is located in the nature reserve Karthäuser Mühlenbach and this river still runs in its original form. With a bit of luck you can see Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Grèbe castagneux, Grand Cormoran, Oie cendrée, Bernache du Canada and many other birds.
