Description
The Horbachpark was created as part of the state garden show of 1988. The little Horbach stream flows through the park and into a lake. There are many paths and benches throughout the park. The lake and the surrounding grass and reed fringes are home to Cygne tuberculé, Canard colvert, Foulque macroule and Gallinule poule-d'eau. Around the edges of the park and beyond, there is an attractive mix of gardens and allotments. These host a good variety of Tits, Finches and Woodpeckers, including Mésange nonnette, Mésange à longue queue, Gros-bec casse-noyaux, Tarin des aulnes and Pic vert.
In the woods adjacent to the park, it is possible to observe Mésange noire, Mésange huppée and Roitelet huppé. Raptors like Buse variable, Milan royal and Autour des palombes can often be seen soaring over the woods and slopes above the town. If you're in Ettlingen the park is well worth a visit. It's also a great place to combine family time at the playground with a bit of birding.
