Rate birdingplace Hauke Haien Koog - Hide am Südbecken
Description
The Hauke-Haie-Koog is an important resting and moulting area for many bird species in the Wadden Sea. Every year in spring and autumn when migrating, thousands of geese come to the Hauke-Haien-Koog to rest and moult. Large flocks of Bécasseau variable also use this area as a high water resting place. Avocette élégante, terns, and various songbird species such as Bruant des roseaux, Panure à moustaches and Phragmite des joncs use the Koog with its wide reed areas as a breeding area. Busard des roseaux, Oie cendrée, Butor étoilé and various types of ducks also settle here to raise their young. After the breeding season from June to September, large groups of Spatule blanche can be observed. Among them are young and adult birds.
