Description
Grabschützer See is a renatured opencast mining area that is part of a larger nature reserve of Werbeliner See. The reserve is focussed on the improvement of bird habitats and has small ponds, wet meadows, island and rib structures and steep banks. More than 180 bird species have been recorded in the nature reserve so far. A nature trail leads you over a total of 7 km on a circular path through the various habitats. Among the birds you can see are Grèbe castagneux, Grèbe jougris, Grèbe huppé, Tarin des aulnes, Harle piette, Gorgebleue à miroir, Vanneau huppé, Grande Aigrette, Milan royal, Rousserolle turdoïde and Panure à moustaches. Also wild wolves live in the area.
