Description
Neuvry is a very good spot for waterbirds, and also for local rarities. Mouette mélanocéphale and Mouette rieuse breed in small numbers, as do Nette rousse , Fuligule morillon and Grèbe à cou noir. Héron garde-boeufs , Grande Aigrette and Aigrette garzette are all regular. Waders are quite common in stopover, especially Tringa sandpipers. Bécassine sourde winters in the area.
Mouette pygmée , Guifette moustac, Guifette noire and Balbuzard pêcheur are regular. This also a good place for ducks in migration period. Among the recent rarities are Chevalier stagnatile , Crabier chevelu , Harelde boréale , Grèbe jougris , Bécasseau de Temminck and Sterne arctique.

By car only (no train station around). Click on the P in the map to get directions to the western bird hide. You can go first to the western bird hide by car, and then walk along the eastern shore of the lake on the dirt road. Be careful, driving is forbidden on the dirt road around the lake, you're in a Natural Reserve, you may be fined.
