Helnæs is an island on the southwestern coast of Funen connected to the Funen mainland by a dam. On Helnæs you can find the enormous meadowland of Maden, west of the town of Helnæs. Almost 300 hectares of meadows and fields lie behind the beach ridges along the Little Belt. The flat land at Helnæs Made stands in stark contrast to Bobakkernes hilly green terrain. At Maden you can make a nice walk along a marked route of about three kilometers. Among the birds you can see in the area are Bernache nonnette, Tadorne de Belon, Canard souchet, Canard pilet, Perdrix grise, Grèbe castagneux, Grèbe jougris, Avocette élégante, Pluvier doré, Vanneau huppé, Courlis cendré, Bécassine des marais, Pipit farlouse, Bruant jaune, Bruant des roseaux and Alouette des champs.
