Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Blongios nain (the only location of this species in Prague), Locustelle luscinioïde, Râle d'eau, Rousserolle turdoïde, Rousserolle effarvatte, Gallinule poule-d'eau or Bruant des roseaux. Also the Busard des roseaux is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of Grèbe huppé, Foulque macroule, Canard colvert and a few pairs of Fuligule milouin and Fuligule morillon. In the linked rural areas breed Pie-grièche écorcheur, Locustelle tachetée, Rossignol philomèle and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of Hirondelle de rivage.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Gorgebleue à miroir, Tarier des prés, Tarier pâtre, Gobemouche noir, Sarcelle d'été and many other species of waterfowl, Bécassine des marais, Vanneau huppé and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Étourneau sansonnet murmuration. Also Hirondelle rustique and Bergeronnette printanière come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!

Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the north of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to station Dolnoměcholupská and then 30 minutes walking using the biking trail. It is possible to make a circular route, but only the eastern side of the pond has a paved road.
