The Nature reserve Nový rybník is an important breeding site for many reedbed birds such as Gorgebleue à miroir, Râle d'eau, Rousserolle turdoïde, Phragmite des joncs, Rousserolle effarvatte, Busard des roseaux, Gallinule poule-d'eau or Bruant des roseaux. On the pond itself breed many pairs of Mouette rieuse (the only occupied place in Plzensky region), Oie cendrée, Foulque macroule, Canard colvert and a few pairs of Canard chipeau, Fuligule milouin and Fuligule morillon. In the rural areas and meadows breed Pie-grièche écorcheur, Locustelle tachetée, Rousserolle verderolle, Fauvette grisette, Rossignol philomèle, Alouette des champs and many others.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Tarier des prés, Tarier pâtre, Sarcelle d'été, Guifette noire and many other species of waterfowl. In last years Grue cendrée is a regular guest here, especially in spring time. In late summer and autumn there is little water, which is suitable for Bécassine des marais, Vanneau huppé, Chevalier sylvain and other waders. In winter Pie-grièche grise is a regular visitor.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch Étourneau sansonnet murmuration (thousands of birds). You can also see Hirondelle rustique and Bergeronnette printanière.

Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the south of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to the city of Líně and then 20 minutes walking using the unpaved road.
