At the Northern Ponds in Viñales there's a chance to see aquatic birds such as Anhinga, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, , Black-necked Stilt, Great Blue Heron without going on a trip to the sea. Also you can do it while a nice and scenic walk around the outskirts of the beautiful small city of Viñales.

Accès

You can access the area by feet or by bike. Although i would recommend the free Maps.me-App for navigation. As there are many little paths of the farmers, that are a bit confusing.

Informations supplémentaires

There are no signs or other hints for the right way, so it is recommended to use GPS or ask the locals. The nearby Cueva de la Vaca is also a nice place to go, also if you are interested in bats. Around the both entrances it is also possible to look for Cuban Solitaire, Cuban Pygmy-Owl, and warblers.
