Tulove Grede consists of high white peaks and rock formations that are very photogenic. The mountain peaks are famous because the white rocks were the setting for the Winnetou and Old Shatterhand movies. At the top there are some information boards with stills of the movies and photos of the main actors.
But this scenic location is also good for birdwatching. On the way up along the 6 km gravel road you can already make several stops, enjoy the views and have a chance to see birds like Sittelle de Neumayer, Fauvette passerinette, Mésange lugubre and Circaète Jean-le-Blanc. On the top you will find a small plateau with rocky grasslands surrounded by white rounded rock peaks. This area is a good place to look for Traquet oreillard, Alouette lulu and Monticole bleu. In the air look for Chocard à bec jaune, Grand Corbeau and Aigle royal.

Tulove Grede is located 60 km inland from the city of Zadar. From the exit of the main road to Tulove Grede it is a 6,5 km drive over a gravel road. This road was once an important route that connected north and south of Croatia. Overall, the road is pretty wide and in good condition for a gravel road. The road can be driven with a normal car, but there are sometimes potholes and there may be stones or rocks on the road. But if you drive carefully it is no problem. Click on the P in the map for directions. Once you get to the top, there’s a lot of parking space.
