Description

North 40 Lands is an off-leash dog park that used to be an old air training field and wireless transmission station from 1941 to 1971. Now there are mostly just remnants of the old foundations and streets with informational plaques on what things used to be like. This park is also a common place for filming shows such as Supernatural, X-files, and more. In the winter you can typically see dozens of Bald Eagle (both juveniles and adults) hanging out in the area before they head out to their nesting sites (of which there are a few in the area).

While you're in the area, you can also visit Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society down the road for a tour to see more raptors (check website for availability), or check out the Boundary Bay Dyke trail at the end of 72nd St for Short-eared Owl, Northern Harrier and more (occasionally a Snowy Owl may be seen when conditions are right).
