Schansheide used to be the private property of a sand extraction company. Now it is a new nature reserve opened in 2022. The area is still in recovery, but the birds have already found it. There is a lookout hill and a wide view of sand quarries, water, forest and heathland. Depending on the season, birds you can see in the area are Harle bièvre, Troglodyte mignon, Balbuzard pêcheur, Tadorne de Belon, Chevalier aboyeur, Panure à moustaches and Gorgebleue à miroir.

Nederlands: Schansheide was vroeger een privé-terrein van een zandwinningsbedrijf. Nu is het een nieuw natuurgebied door samenwerking van Sibelco en Natuurpunt. Het nieuwe gebied is geopend in 2022 en is nog in herstel, maar de vogels hebben dit al gevonden. Met een unieke uitkijkheuvel en een weids uitzicht over zandgroeven, water, bos en heidelandschap. Afhankelijk van het seizoen zijn de vogels die je in het gebied kunt zien Harle bièvre, Troglodyte mignon, Balbuzard pêcheur, Tadorne de Belon, Chevalier aboyeur, Panure à moustaches en Gorgebleue à miroir.
