Description
Het Leen is a relatively large wet forest area with relicts of wet heath and alder marsh forests. There is a network of more than 30 km of hiking trails in Het Leen. Many paved paths but also unpaved paths. On the east side of the area is a bird hide. There are quite a lot of bird species to see. Among the birds you can see are Grand Cormoran, Martin-pêcheur d'Europe, Pic épeiche, Pic vert, Geai des chênes, Mésange huppée and Pouillot véloce.

There is a spacious parking lot, click on the P in the map to get directions. You can also explore the area by bike, but on foot is more interesting. On the map you can see the walk 'Doorheen Het Leen' ('Through Het Leen'). This walk of 6 km shows you the most beautiful places and and is marked with purple arrows. The route does not pass the bird hide, so to visit the bird hide you have to make a little detour (see the map).
