De Gevel is a quietly located nature reserve consisting of a central reed land surrounded by wet forests and grasslands. The present poplars are ideal breeding grounds for birds of prey, but also for Loriot d'Europe. The latter has been present every summer since 2015. The following rare species have been seen here: Cygne chanteur, Milan royal, Milan noir and Grand Corbeau. Among the top 5 most observed species are Foulque macroule, Gallinule poule-d'eau, Héron cendré, Canard colvert and Coucou gris. Note: the breeding season is from April to July, which means that part of the nature reserve is temporarily inaccessible. In the central reed area you have a good chance to hear Râle d'eau calling.

Nederlands: De Gevel is een rustig gelegen natuurgebied bij Rotselaar dat bestaat uit een centraal rietland met daarrond natte bossen en graslanden. De aanwezige populieren zijn ideale broedplaatsen voor roofvogels, maar ook voor Loriot d'Europe. Deze laatste is elke zomer aanwezig sinds 2015. De volgende zeldzame soorten zijn hier gezien: Cygne chanteur, Milan royal, Milan noir en Grand Corbeau. De top 5 van meest waargenomen soorten is Foulque macroule, Gallinule poule-d'eau, Héron cendré, Canard colvert en Coucou gris.
Van april tot juli is het broedseizoen waardoor een deel van het natuurgebied tijdelijk niet toegankelijk is. Door de aankoop van het natte kerngebied heeft Agentschap Natuur en Bos 45 hectare in beheer en is dit natuurgebied ook opgenomen in het Europees Natura 2000-netwerk. In het centraal rietgebied heb je grote kans om Râle d'eau te horen roepen.

There are limited parking options along the entrance of the Molenstraat in the village of Rotselaar. You can also enter the area via Dijlestraat and Kwellenbergstraat. In time, an approach from Gevelstraat will also be provided, so that you will also be able to oversee the area from a viewing platform. Because the area is wet all year round, boots are definitely recommended. You can only explore this area on foot. The circular walk indicated on the map is approximately 4 km.

Nederlands: Langs de ingang van de Molenstraat in Rotselaar heb je beperkte parkeermogelijkheden. Je kan ook via de Dijlestraat en Kwellenbergstraat het gebied betreden. Op termijn wordt ook een insteek vanuit de Gevelstraat voorzien, zodat je ook van hieruit vanop een uitkijkplatform het gebied zal kunnen overzien. Doordat het gebied het ganse jaar nat is, zijn laarzen zeker aan te raden. Je kan dit gebied enkel te voet verkennen. De aangegeven rondwandeling op de kaart is ongeveer 4 km.
