Schönauer Teich (Lake Schönau) is located near Schönau an der Triesting. The scenic pond has also one of the most species-rich breeding grounds for waterfowl in Lower Austria and serves as a resting station for migrating birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Bécassine des marais, Héron cendré, Balbuzard pêcheur, Harle bièvre, Grande Aigrette, Nette rousse, Gallinule poule-d'eau, Foulque macroule, Grèbe huppé, Bruant des roseaux, Rousserolle effarvatte, Grand Cormoran and Vanneau huppé.
