The walk starts at the pond of Hilmteich with almost always Canard colvert. From the pond you walk up to the beech forest where you can encounter Pic noir, Pic épeiche, Sittelle torchepot, Grimpereau des bois, Gobemouche à collier and different species of finches and tits. This walk is really interesting and easy for starting bird watchers (and their kids!).

There are no parking spaces in Hilmteich, but you can easily reach this location via tram, and come back via tram too from Mariatrost. The route is 5 km long (one way).
