Description

Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne specialises in Australian native plants. The total area is 363 hectares, including heathlands, wetlands and woodlands. The gardens provide habitat for many birds. Beyond the Australian Garden, the bushland section of the garden contains 10 km of walking tracks, and includes the Trig Point Lookout tower and picnic sites.

Typical Common Birds include White-eared Honeyeater, Yellow-faced Honeyeater, Straw-necked Ibis, Australasian Swamphen, Eastern Rosella, Superb Fairywren, Spotted Pardalote, Striated Pardalote, Mistletoebird and Red-browed Finch. But many more, see the birdlist below.

Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is located in the suburb of Cranbourne, about 45 km south-east of the Melbourne city centre. Press P on the map for directions to the parking. The gardens are open daily: 9am to 5pm (last entry 4:30pm). Visitor Centre: 9am - 4:30pm. Admission is free. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 7 km. But you can easily make the walk longer or shorter as there are many trails to choose from.
