Isla Martillo is famous for its penguin colonies. The Magellanic Penguin and Gentoo Penguin nest on the island. Occasionally you can see King Penguin on the island as well, but they don’t nest there. Of course also other bird species can be spotted, see the birdlist below.

Isla Martillo is located 70 km east of Ushuaia. You can book many tours that leave from Ushuaia and motor down to Isla Martillo to observe the penguins that nest on the island. Keep in mind that access to the island is typically restricted to guided tours, most tours don't land on the island.
