Description

Pelican Park is primarily open ball fields, parking lots and buildings for gyms and large events. It does have sections of trees and brush and is adjacent to the Northlake Nature Center. By history it has produced 128 species and is a worthwhile stop between other locations in St. Tammany Parish. it is reliable for Eastern Bluebird, Killdeer and Loggerhead Shrike all year. Purple Martin is present spring through fall and can often be seen gathering in large numbers prior to fall migration. Notably there have been several sightings of Vermilion Flycatcher over the years.

It is easy to add-on the northern section of Northlake Nature Center by entering through the path by the Grey fields parking area. It is also only 1.3 miles from Fontainebleu State Park.
