Excellent area for birding and wildlife in general with pools, mudflats, scrub land and a small reed bed. You can often find rare birds, particularly migrants.
Pegwell Bay is considered a nature reserve of international importance as it is home to a range of seashore birds and wildlife found nowhere else in East Kent. Lots of rare and common birds including: ruskosuohaukka, silkkihaikara, kapustahaikara, pajusirkku, hemppo, suosirri, ristisorsa, punapyy, avosetti, haapana. And occasionally harjalintu and isolepinkäinen.
You can park in the car park (click on the P in the map to go there directly) where there is also a cafe and toilets and the best way to explore the area is by foot. There is a bird hide, which is accessible for disabled visitors.
