Description

Kersal Wetlands is located in a meander of the River Irwell and offers a variety of habitats, including woodlands, wildflower meadows, and wetlands. You can observe a large selection of bird species, including a large heronry. The new wetland also includes excellent views of the Manchester skyline.

Access

Kersal Wetlands is just off Littleton Road and situated on the site of the old Manchester Racecourse (Littleton Road, Kersal Salford M7 3GT). Parking available off Littleton Road and off Cromwell Road A576 by Cromwell Bridge. Press P on the map for directions.

Pedestrian access from Littleton Road continues straight ahead following the route of the river with the new housing estate to the right along Grandstand Avenue. The circular walk shown on the map is bout 3 km.
