Semi-natural wood of 175 hectares that is more than 400 years old. Good for birding and tranquil woodland walks.
Hamstreet Woods is good for birds of deciduous broadleaved woodland. The area is managed to encourage natural diversity. The forest is home to a variety of warblers, viitatiainen, pähkinänakkeli, etelänsatakieli, käpytikka, vihertikka, punatulkku and other woodland nature. Bluebells in spring.
Rail station and bus stop in Hamstreet village, a short walk away. Entrance to the woodland is at the end of Bourne Lane in Hamstreet village where limited parking is available. Click on the P in the map to get directions. There are 3 way-marked trails (varying between 2.5 and 5 kilometres) through the reserve. The circular route indicated on the map below is 3 km long.
