Inlet of the sea between the south-east coast of the Isle of Mull and the mainland of Scotland.
The Firth of Lorn includes a number of islands, and is noted for the variety of wildlife habitats that are found. In 2005, a large part of the Firth became a Special Area of Conservation. Due to the tidal currents, there is a great diversity of habitats, which means that many birds and marine mammals come to this place. You can see riskilä up close in Oban Bay, and merikotka are often visible on the approach to Mull, either in flight or perched on coastal promontories.
The ferry to Mull departs from Oban. You can see a lot of birds from this ferry. For timetables, fares and tickets see the link below. Click on the P in the map to get directions to Oban.
The ferry passes two islands that are connected with a small bridge and on which there is a lighthouse. You can also see two castle ruins from the ferry, including Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull.
