Description

A mixture of farmland fields, and hedges, deciduous woodland comprising of mainly Oak (Quercus), Beech (Fagus) and Ash (Fraxinus) with small areas of conifers. The large area of woodland holds a good amount of resident birds. lehtopöllö, vihertikka, käpytikka, pähkinänakkeli, puukiipijä​, tulipäähippiäinen ​​​​​and hippiäinen are very common. During Summer tiltaltti, mustapääkerttu, käki, harmaasieppo can be expected. turturikyyhky, sirittäjä ​and leppälintu are a distinct possibility.

Access

From Berkhampstead (to the South), take B4506 (near the church) signed Ashridge/Sunnyside, continue on this B4506 road. In the village of Ringshall turn Left signed Marsworth/Ivinghoe into Beacon Road, the dirt track to the first car park (free) soon appears on the Left. Further along Beacon Road is the second car park (free). The circular walk indicated on the map is about 6 km.
