The Güllük lagoon is a very nice birding area for birders staying in Bodrum that can offer many mediterranean species.
The Güllük lagoon (Güllük Korfezi) and its surrounding marshes form one of the most important wetlands in Turkey in terms of species diversity and habitat diversity. The salty areas attract many species for resting and feeding on the mudflats.
Access by car from this road 37.188291, 27.599750 that is the main birdwatching trail. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates. The tactic is - you follow the road, spot and watch birds and then see if you have a chance to get closer using small paths and other unpaved roads. Try to get here as early as possible, because it gets really hot after 9 am in summer and the light is not good for taking photos.
