Description
Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are silkkiuikku, kyhmyjoutsen, ruskosuohaukka and in some years kaulushaikara,härkälintu and viiksitimali. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are isohaarahaukka , pikkutikka, pyrstötiainen and kultarinta. During migration periods large flocks of merihanhi , kanadanhanhi , sinisorsa and tavi stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially hiirihaukka, piekana, isohaarahaukka, haarahaukka, sääksi (kalasääski) and merikotka.
