Long narrow headland with many nesting and resting birds. Many different waders.
Långviksskatan consists of an open sand dune with small shrubbery and older mixed forest. The cape itself is elongated, rocky and grassy, with sandy beaches. This kind of environment is unusual for this coast. To the east of the area is a shallow, vegetation-rich bay, with deciduous shrubs and a beach, with exposed banks at low tide. Waders use the beaches around the cape as well as inside the bay. Among the birds you can encounter are kyhmyjoutsen merihanhi kanadanhanhi laulujoutsen, ristisorsa, telkkä, sääksi (kalasääski), kuovi, suosirri, suokukko, räyskä and riuttatiira.
Directions: From Täfteå, take the road just east of the village towards Rovögern. You drive this road straight ahead until you have passed Fäbosanden when the sign for Långviksskatan comes. You drive past a small clearing on the right side, turn off to the right and drive through a sparse pine heath. Then the road is divided, choose the left. Finally, you arrive at an open area consisting largely of truth. Small parking is available. Then a walk through forest and long sandy beach. Click on the P in the map to get directions.
