Description
The Riet Vell nature reserve is a mosaic of humid habitats. It has 44 hectares of organic cultivation, with organic fertilizer and without pesticides. Rice paddies are nesting places for some protected birds and feeding place for many birds, both in summer and during winter flooding. The freshwater lagoon measures 7 hectares. It is an excellent habitat for all kinds of fauna and waterfowl, which receives very clean water from the ecological rice paddy. Among its plants, numerous birds of a wide variety of species nest like sulttaanikana, pussitiainen and rääkkähaikara. A pedestrian path provides access to a well-placed observatory near the lagoon and its reed bed (7 hectares). On the access path you will follow several hectares of organic rice fields maintained by volunteers.
