Lake Bovan is a 9 km long water reservoir on the Moravica mountain river in southeast Serbia.
Lake Bovan is a 9 km long and 50m deep water reservoir on the Moravica mountain river. Many waterfowl find the eastern part of the lake's deep waters attractive as an overwintering destination. kuikka, kaakkuri, isokoskelo, silkkiuikku, mustakaulauikku, and ristisorsa are mostly regular. The first record of amerikanjääkuikka for Serbia was also recorded here. The western part of the lake with its shallow waters is an ideal place for shorebirds during migration, as Lake Bovan is on an important migration corridor.
Lake Bovan lies near the village of Bovan, between the towns of Aleksinac and Sokobanja. If coming from Belgrade or Novi Sad, take the Ražanj highway exit, if coming from Niš. take the Aleksinac exit. The lake is best explored by car with small detours on foot.
