Volcanic hotspot of São Miguel Island in the Azores. Lagoa das Furnas is a crater lake that is best viewed by doing a circuit of the lake.
The walk around Lagoa das Furnas is generally quite a flat walk. There are toilets and parking at both ends of the lake. There is a variety of species including wagtails, swans, ducks, terns and more.
There is parking at both the north and south ends of the lake. Best explored on foot. It takes around 20-30 minutes to walk from the north to the south side, and about the same back. There is a wide path both ways.
