Description

The Ballestas Islands are a group of small islands near the coastal town of Paracas. These islands are an important sanctuary for marine fauna like Guanay Cormorant, Red-legged Cormorant, Peruvian Booby, Blue-footed Booby, Humboldt Penguin, Peruvian Pelican, and Inca Tern. Other notable species include two varieties of seals (fur seals and sea lions). You can watch and photograph the birds from a very close distance.

The Ballestas Islands are located on the south coast of Peru, 15 km south of the city of Pisco, near the town of Paracas. The islands are only accessible by boat. You can book a 2 hour boat tour in Paracas.
