Description

The star-shaped old town of Fredrikstad is the best-preserved fortress town in Northern Europe. Worth a visit because of the many galleries, artisans, shops, restaurants, and cafes. But also for birding, because a wooded green belt runs around the old town, including the canal that surrounds the fortress. That means plenty of habitats and plenty of birds to see. The star-shaped defence walls around the town are perfect for walking and easy birding.
