Description
The bird island of Bliek is an ideal breeding ground for species such as avosetti, kalatiira, pikkutylli, meriharakka, naurulokki and västäräkki. From April to July, the shorebirds can be easily seen during courtship, brooding and feeding their young. Bird species such as pikkutiira, tylli, tukkakoskelo and ristisorsa can also often be seen. Recently, young pikkulokki are sometimes observed passing by and resting. In the winter months, all kinds of ducks and geese can be seen spending the winter on the Haringvliet. Bird island Bliek has a beautiful designed bird hide which is connected with a landing stage for boats.

Nederlands: Vogeleiland Bliek in het Haringvliet is een ideale broedplek voor vogelsoorten als avosetti, kalatiira, pikkutylli, meriharakka, naurulokki en ook västäräkki. Van april tot juli zijn de kustvogels gemakkelijk te zien tijdens de balts, het broeden en het voeren van hun jongen. Vogelsoorten zoals pikkutiira, tylli, tukkakoskelo en ristisorsa zijn ook vaak te zien. Ook worden soms jonge pikkulokki gezien die voorbijtrekken of rusten. In de wintermaanden overwinteren allerlei eenden en ganzen op het Haringvliet. Vogeleiland Bliek heeft een mooi vormgegeven vogelkijkhut die is verbonden met een aanlegsteiger voor boten.

Access
The island can be reached by boat or kayak, which can be hired in the villages of Middelharnis, Hellevoetsluis or Stad aan 't Haringvliet. For example: from the harbour in the center of Middelharnis to Bliek it is about 4 km one way (see the map below). On the island of Bliek there is a special landing stage near the bird-watching hide. The rest of the island is forbidden to enter to prevent disturbance of the birds.

Nederlands: Het eiland is te bereiken per boot of kajak, te huur in de dorpen Middelharnis, Hellevoetsluis of Stad aan 't Haringvliet. Bijvoorbeeld: vanaf de haven in het centrum van Middelharnis naar Bliek is het ongeveer 4,5 km varen (enkele reis, zie onderstaande kaart). Op het eiland Bliek is een speciale aanlegsteiger bij de vogelkijkhut. De rest van het eiland is verboden om te betreden om verstoring van de vogels te voorkomen.
