In the Terschellinger polder, farming takes place in a number of places in a way that focuses on meadow birds. The endless mudflats of the Wadden Sea begin on the other side of the dike. Along the dike there are a number of higher areas where birds can forage for a long time even with rising water. Numerous waders can be found here, but also ducks and geese such as ristisorsa, haahka and sepelhanhi. The stone dike foot is a good place for luotokirvinen. At low tide, the birds can sit far away on the tidal flats that are drying up, while at high tide the water can reach the dike. Nederlands: De Terschellinger polder is vooral in het voorjaar aantrekkelijk met nog altijd veel weidevogels. De Waddenkant is een goede plaats voor tal van steltlopers. In de Terschellinger polder wordt op een aantal plaatsen geboerd op een wijze waarbij de weidevogels centraal staan. Met succes, het is een gebied met tal van weidevogels. Grutto, kievit, tureluur, scholekster en slobeend doen het hier nog goed, evenals veldleeuwerik en graspieper, maar ook visdief, noordse stern en kluut broeden hier en zijn goed te zien. Vooral tijdens de najaarstrek strijken er soms grote groepen lijsters neer, zoals koperwieken, kramsvogels en zanglijsters. Ook heb je dan de grootste kans op zeldzamer soorten. In de winter foerageren er veel ganzen in het gebied, vooral rotganzen. Soms zit er ook een roodhalsgans tussen. Ook zijn er dan grote groepen kieviten en goudplevieren te vinden.
Aan de andere kant van de dijk begint het eindeloze wad. Langs de dijk liggen een aantal hogere stukken waar ook bij opkomend water nog lang vogels kunnen foerageren. Tal van steltlopers zijn hier te vinden, maar ook eenden en ganzen zoals bergeend, eider en rotgans. De stenen dijkvoet is en goede plek voor oeverpieper. Bij laag water kunnen de vogels ver weg zitten op het droogvallende wad, terwijl bij vloed het water tot aan de dijk kan staan. Idealiter check je de wadkant bij opkomend water, de vogels komen dan steeds dichterbij, zeker als je ergens rustig blijft zitten. Zie de link beneden, naar de getijdentabel.

The area is ideal for exploring by bicycle. A separate cycle path runs through the polder, just like on the Wadden side of the dike. You can park your car in one of the villages. The route that is shown on the map is 15 km.

Nederlands: Het gebied is ideaal om te verkennen met de fiets. Door de polder loopt een vrijliggend fietspad, net als aan de Waddenkant van de dijk. De auto kun je eventueel parkeren in een van de dorpjes. De aanbevolen route op de kaart heeft een lengte van 15 km.
