Description
Peazemerlannen is a nature reserve on the Wadden Sea. After a storm punched a hole in the summer dike in 1973, the Wadden Sea was given free rein and a great area for birds was created. Many bird species can be seen here all year round in the salt marsh and the summer polder as well as on the mudflats. In winter, this area is at its best with wintering lapinsirkku, pulmunen, luotokirvinen, vuorihemppo, tunturikiuru and the spectacular suopöllö. In winter you can count on seeing sepelhanhi. Furthermore, many waders can be seen here on the mudflats, such as the meriharakka, kuovi, suosirri, isosirri, mustaviklo and merisirri, which can also use the area as a high water refuge. There is also a chance of seabirds such as the etelänkiisla, ruokki and isolokki.

Nederlands: Peazemerlannen ligt aan de Waddenzee bij de dorpjes Paesens en Moddergat. Het is een buitendijkse natuurgebied met kwelders en zomerpolder. Nadat in 1973 door een storm een gat werd geslagen in de zomerdijk kreeg de Waddenzee vrij spel en ontstond een geweldig gebied voor vogels. Het hele jaar door zijn hier veel vogelsoorten te zien in zowel de kwelder en de zomerpolder als op het wad. In de winter is dit gebied op zijn best met overwinterende lapinsirkku, pulmunen, luotokirvinen, vuorihemppo, tunturikiuru en de spectaculaire suopöllö. Ook is 's winters vrijwel altijd sepelhanhi te zien, waartussen soms een witbuik- of zwartbuikrotgans opduikt. Verder zijn op hier op het wad veel steltlopers te zien, zoals de meriharakka, kuovi, suosirri, isosirri, mustaviklo en merisirri, welke het gebied ook als hoogwatervluchtplaats kunnen gebruiken. Verder is er een kans op zeevogels zoals de etelänkiisla, ruokki en isolokki.

Access
Park the car in a parking lot in Paesens and walk from there towards the seawall. Parking is also available in the parking lot at the monument to the naval mining accident. The area is only suitable for walkers. Boots are not necessary as most trails are paved.

Nederlands: Parkeer de auto op een parkeerplaats in Paesens en wandel vanuit daar richting de zeedijk. Parkeren is ook mogelijk op de parkeerplaats bij het monument van het zeemijnongeluk. Het gebied is alleen voor wandelaars geschikt. Laarzen zijn niet nodig want de meeste paden zijn verhard.
