The beach at Paal 8 on the Wadden island of Terschelling is worth a visit to watch seabirds during and after a westerly wind.
At Paal 8 early in the morning you can look out over the surf from the beach pavilion. You can also look out over the sea from a dune top. Best from wind force 4

Hotel – Restaurant de Walvisvaarder has been combining informality with hospitality for more than 50 years. Perfectly centrally located for bird watching on the beautiful island of Terschelling. Close to mudflats, beach, forest and polder. In the hotel, freedom and casualness are combined with hospitality, which brings people back to Terschelling every year. The converted farm in the little village of Lies is an ideal base from which to explore the island. After a day of bird watching or a long walk on the beach, you can enjoy a drink at our bar or on our terrace. When it is a bit colder outside, the fireplace burns in the evening.
