The wide beach at beach pole 18 on the North Sea side of the island of Terschelling is a good place to see gulls and seabirds.
The beach at Paal 18 on the North Sea side of Terschelling is excellent for watching seabirds. You can also climb a dune top to have a wider view of the sea. Most seabirds are far away, but are often blown closer to the coast with strong west to northwest winds. Birds that you can see in the Paal 18 area include pulmussirri, merilokki, selkälokki, pikkukajava, meriharakka, punakuiri, sepelhanhi, kaakkuri, suula, isokihu, mustalintu, haahka, riuttatiira and in winter tunturikiuru and pulmunen.

There is a parking lot for cars and bicycles at Paal 18. In this secluded spot you will also find the nice beach restaurant Heartbreak Hotel, where you can have something to eat and drink or shelter in case of strong wind.
