De Lange Paal is a small forest with adjacent dunes. The forest is centered around a green campsite on the island of Vlieland.

Description

In the forest surrounding the Lange Paal and also in the adjacent dunes, interesting birds such as taigauunilintu and sepelrastas are often encountered during bird migration. A short walk through the surrounding forest is worthwhile. In the forest you can see birds such as lehtokurppa, varpushaukka, kanahaukka, käpytikka, kuusitiainen, mustapääkerttu, hippiäinen and tulipäähippiäinen.

Nederlands: De Lange Paal is een natuurkampeerplaats op Vlieland. Rondom het terrein ligt een klein mooi bos met fraaie aangrenzende duinen. In het bos bij de Lange Paal, maar ook in de aangrenzende duinen en op de grasvelden worden in de vogeltrektijd vaak interessante vogels als taigauunilintu en sepelrastas aangetroffen. Via een korte wandeling van 2 km kun je het hele gebied verkennen. In het bos kun je vogels tegenkomen als lehtokurppa, varpushaukka, kanahaukka, käpytikka, kuusitiainen, mustapääkerttu, hippiäinen en tulipäähippiäinen.

Access

Vlieland can be reached by ferry from Harlingen. Several boats leave per day and the crossing takes about an hour and a half (see link for ferry tickets below). De Lange Paal is 3 km by bike from the village of Oost-Vlieland. The indicated circular walk on the map is about 2 km.
