Description
The Kolk van Dussen is a creek lined with wet grasslands. The area also serves as a water storage area. The flowery meadows along the area attract many insects and meadow birds. The Kolk van Dussen is also home to many ducks, geese and waders. The area itself is not accessible, but easy to oversee. Many birds can be seen here all year round. It is especially busy during the breeding season, when you can see birds like ristisorsa, avosetti, pikkutylli, töyhtöhyyppä, kuovi, mustapyrstökuiri and kalatiira. In the fall and winter, keep an eye out for groups of kapustarinta and haapana.

Nederlands: De Kolk van Dussen is een natuurgebied van 40 hectare ten westen van Lambertschaag, tussen het Pannepad en de Westfriesedijk. Er ligt een kreek die omzoomd wordt met natte graslanden. Het gebied dient tevens als waterbergingsgebied. De bloemrijke weidevelden langs het gebied trekken veel insecten en weidevogels aan. Het waterrijke gebied herbergt daarnaast veel eenden, ganzen en steltlopers. De Kolk van Dussen zelf is niet toegankelijk, maar goed te overzien, onder meer vanuit een vogelkijktoren. Het hele jaar zijn hier veel vogels te zien. Vooral in de broedtijd is het er druk, dan kun je vogels zien als ristisorsa, avosetti, pikkutylli, töyhtöhyyppä, kuovi, mustapyrstökuiri en kalatiira. Let in de herfst en winter op groepen kapustarinta en haapana.

This nature reserve can be overlooked from the N239 along the Westfriesedijk, but it is much more fun to take the cycle path called Pannepad between Aartswoud and Lambertschaag. About halfway, near the Kolk, it is teeming with birds. Get off there and climb the birdwatchtower.

Nederlands: Dit natuurgebied is te overzien vanaf de N239 langs de Westfriesedijk, maar veel leuker is het om het fietspad 'Het Pannepad tussen Aartswoud en Lambertschaag te nemen. Ongeveer halverwege, bij de Kolk, stikt het ineens van de vogels. Stap daar af en beklim de uitkijktoren.
