Water from the dunes runs towards the south point of Texel. Het Grote Vlak consists of a few lakes in this water course.

Description

Het Grote Vlak often holds a lot of ducks ( Lapasorsa , harmaasorsa , jouhisorsa , ristisorsa , haapana and in spring heinätavi ), gulls and grebes. Sometimes waders, like mustapyrstökuiri , are abundant and few songbirds, like vuorikirvinen and mustapäätasku (sometimes even sinirinta ), can be found. The area is also good for finding uuttukyyhky , kivitasku and in winter piekana .

Access

Het Grote Vlak is easily accessible from the village of Den Hoorn towards the beach. You can park on the roadside, but try to give way to cyclists on the parallel cycle path.
