Formerumerbos

Island of Terschelling  >  Netherlands

One of the most varied forests on the island of Terschelling. Nice for walking and good for forest birds and sometimes rarities during migration.

Description

The Formerumerbos was once created to prevent the dunes from dominating the area. Many different types of trees were planted, making the Formerumer forest one of the most varied forests on the island. It is the intention that most pine and spruce will be replaced by deciduous wood in the future. The forest is a good area for species of the forest such as käpytikka, kuusitiainen, pajulintu, etelänpuukiipijä, vihervarpunen, hippiäinen and harmaasieppo.
