Description

The Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve is one of the largest and densest cedar forests in Lebanon. The area has cliffs, caves, and ancient cedar trees, some of which are believed to be over 1,000 years old. Tannourine Cedars Forest Nature Reserve is an IBA (Important Bird Area) in Lebanon according to Birdlife International. Relatively close to the Ehden Reserve and the Ehden Raptor Count, it is also located on an interesting migratory route for large soaring birds, particularly pikkukiljukotka and kiljukotka. On the entomological and herpetological level, also many species have been recorded by a scientific team. For more information, visit the reserve office. The reserve is also interesting for bats and breeding birds.
