Description
The cape of Punta San Martino in Arenzano is a good hotspot for watching seabirds, especially suula, which can be seen also quite close to the shore. They are present all year-round, but in summer only with immatures. Adults spend their winter here, but are more abundant during migrations, in November and March.
Also idänpikkuliitäjä and Välimerenliitäjä are commonly seen foraging in the waters in front of the cape. The ruokki can be seen in winter, especially in December. In March and April, this is also a good spot for watching migrants on the sea, especially in the first couple of hours after sunrise. Here, many dabbling ducks and herons can be seen in the morning. Finally, in winter riuttatiira is always present here, as well as the karimetso in late summer and autumn.
