Description

The small Rif wetland is located in the area of Melrakkaslétta on the Snaefellsnes peninsula in northwest Iceland. It is a breeding area for many birds and has an ideal location between the coast and the mountains. Among the birds you can encounter are kaakkuri, mustakurkku-uikku, haahka, vesipääsky, tukkakoskelo, sepelhanhi, laulujoutsen, lapintiira, tylli, mustapyrstökuiri, punajalkaviklo, merikihu, grönlanninlokki and isolokki.

Rif wetland is located at the end of the Snaefellsnes peninsula in northwest Iceland. You can park at the bird hide. Click on the P in the map for directions.
